Beechgrove Design developed Landscape Architectural plans for the Roanoke Valley Transfer Station in Roanoke VA (http://www.rvra.net/), including: site layout (plazas, walks, brick columns, steel rails), water feature, planting design and signage. Beechgrove Design is teaming with HDR of the Carolinas (http://www.hdrinc.com/) on Master Planning. Bid Documents are in production. Historic Site Research (former steel company on site and adjacent rail lines) was a driving force in using a steel rail theme in conjunction with recycled site furnishings. Sustainable design features include permeable pavers in walks and parking, permeable plazas created with stone framed by steel rails, resilient native grass and shrub species, a bioswale and reduction of mowing on site. Diverse & resilient tree species selected to provide wildlife habitat and year-round aesthetic interest.
